After nearly 9 years sharing research space, meetings, discussions, and general lab life, it is exciting to be able to formalise a collaboration between the Kay and Philp research groups.

We have been awarded funding from the Leverhulme Trust for a project titled ‘Hierarchical reaction networks: nanoscale amplification by molecular replication’. In this work we will integrate molecular metabolism functions, such as self-replication, with nanoparticles. This will introduce a new category of building block to artificial systems chemistry, allowing us to exploit and investigate properties and capabilities that emerge when components on the nanoscale are involved.

If you are interested in marrying systems chemistry with nanomaterials, keep a look-out for recruitment information in the coming months!
